Eurocom Worldwide Technology Market Survey:

Global Executives Optimistic on Tech Sector

- 61% more confident on technology sector prospects
- 57% expect to increase jobs

London, February 21, 2011 - Senior executives are positive about prospects for the global technology sector over the next 12 months. This is revealed in the latest annual technology market confidence survey conducted by Eurocom Worldwide, the global PR network, in association with its member agencies around the world.

The survey, which measured sentiments among 664 senior executives in technology based businesses from more than 30 countries, found that 61% are more confident now about prospects for the technology sector over the next 12 months than they were last year.

“Our survey shows a big turnaround in technology market confidence over the last two years. When we conducted the survey in early 2009 just 13% of respondents were more confident and almost half were less confident about the 12 months ahead of them,” commented Mads Christensen, network director of Eurocom Worldwide. In this year’s survey, just 8% of respondents are less confident about prospects for the next 12 months.

This optimism looks likely to translate into jobs with 57% of respondents expecting the business they work for to increase employment over the next 12 months. Just 9% expect to cut jobs with 34% maintaining current employment levels.

Two thirds of respondents (66%) believe that the global economy is now recovering from recession, and the majority (58%) believe that their country is out of recession. However, a significant 37% believe that their own country is still in recession.

Mads Christensen, network director of Eurocom Worldwide, added, “This is the eighth year of our global technology snapshot of confidence levels. The results suggest that technology based business activities are set to recover strongly in the year ahead.”

The Eurocom Worldwide Technology Market Survey 2011 was conducted by the network and its member agencies during January and February 2011, and surveyed 664 senior level executives in technology based businesses across more than 30 countries worldwide.

Each year Eurocom Worldwide and its member agencies survey technology business leaders and senior technology executives, measuring the sentiments and confidence levels of professionals in the sector. This year 664 respondents participated, a record response rate. The study was conducted via the internet and field work was carried out in January and February of 2011.
